One-Fold, One Shepherd
In John 10:16, Jesus made a statement that was radical in its time and remains just as powerful today: “I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” In a world deeply divided by race, nationality, culture, and class, Jesus was declaring something that cuts across every human boundary. One-fold. One shepherd. One family.

This is the vision that CAC Altar of Grace was built on. From the very beginning, we have been a multinational, multiethnic congregation. We have never seen that as a coincidence; we see it as a calling. We are a living demonstration of the prayer that Jesus prayed in John 17:21: “that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.”
Unity in the body of Christ is not uniformity. God did not create us to all look the same, sound the same, or come from the same background. The beauty of the church is that it is the one place on earth where our differences become a strength rather than a source of division. Revelation 7:9 gives us a glimpse of heaven, a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne of God. What we are building at CAC Altar of Grace is a small but faithful reflection of that heavenly reality.
The shepherd in John 10 is a picture of Jesus, the one who knows His sheep by name, who leads them to green pastures, who protects them from the wolf, and who lays down His life for them. But notice that the shepherd’s role is not just to care for the sheep already in the fold. His mandate is to go after the ones who are not yet there. “I must bring them also.” There is an urgency in those words. A divine compulsion. A reminder that the mission of the church is not just to serve those already inside, but to pursue those who are still outside.
This is why our goals as a church extend beyond our four walls. We are committed to community outreach across Bristol County, meeting people where they are, lifting them economically, emotionally, and spiritually, and bringing them into the fold of God’s family. Every program, every service, every act of kindness is a declaration that the shepherd is still seeking His sheep.
If you have ever felt like you do not belong, like you are too broken, too different, too far gone, this message is for you. The shepherd has not stopped looking for you. He knows your name. He knows your story. And He is calling you, right now, into the only fold where you will ever truly belong.
One fold. One shepherd. One grace. Welcome home.
